APPLICATION & REGISTRATION

The application deadline has been extended to  June 15th,  2024. Accepted participants can register before July1st, 2024.

Prospective participants should send the application formno later than June,  15th  2024 to Riho Motlep (riho.motlep@ut.ee), University of Tartu. Applications should include (a) a motivation letter (half a page), (b) a short CV (max 1 page) and (c) a publication list (if available). Applicants will be informed about the outcome in due course after the application deadline.

After applications are granted and bursaries are appointed, please proceed to registration and payment. Applicants selected for bursary do not have to pay neither the Participation fee nor the accommodation (please see explanation and conditions below!).  All other participants from EAI institutions and non-EAI affiliated institutions please register first and pay here.  The link to the registration: EAI Tartu workshop registration. You should pay for 9 nights for your accommodation also through payment page. If you want to stay shorter please specify your arrival and departure dates in a short email to eai@esf.org. Early career scientists are those up to 8 years from their first Ph. D. in a related field. Please note that you also have to pay for accommodation (if you need one).

The event is open to applicants from all nationalities. Participants affiliated with institutions in the Russian Federation are ineligible, though.  Also, recommendation letters for visa applications are only issued for participants selected by the organizers.

Participation fee covers

  • Registration
  • Lunches and coffee breaks throughout the summer school
  • Excursion to South-Estonia and Lake Peipsi area
  • Dinner on the 27th of August at Püssirohukelder and on the 31st of August at Seto Museum.
  • Drinks and nibbles at poster session on the 24th of August
  • City walk in Tartu on the 27th of August
  • Guided tour to South-Estonia and Lake Peipsi area.
  • Transfer between Tartu and Tõravere Observatory
  • Workshop material

Accommodation fees cover

  • Buffet breakfasts for people living at the Hotel Dorpat
  • People at Raatuse hostel can make their own breakfasts and dinners (kitchen available)

BURSARIES: A limited number of bursaries will be available for students and early career scientists (up to 8 years from their first Ph. D. in a related field).  Participants from EAI Institutions selected by the EAI for bursaries will be offered free lunches, excursions, farewell dinner and accommodation in a shared 2-bedded room at Raatuse Hostel from the 23rd of August to the 1st of September 2024. But participants have to fund their own travel. There is no special application for the bursaries; just send in your application form and tell us in the e-mail your short justification to apply for the bursary. Participants selected for the bursaries will be notified after the application deadline.
